Board of Supervisors Announce Appointment of Director of Workforce and Economic Development
On February 26, 2019, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors has announced the appointment of Priscilla Lopez as the Director of Imperial County Workforce and Economic Development Office (WDEO). Ms. Lopez has served as Interim Director of the former Workforce Development Office since August 29, 2017. On September 25, 2018, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors approved to reorganize the department and merge it with the Imperial County Community and Economic Development Office. As Director, Ms. Lopez will lead the department in planning, organizing, coordinating and administering workforce and economic development programs and services.
Chairman of the Board and District 4 Supervisor, Ryan E. Kelley stated, "As Interim Director, Ms. Lopez has provided great leadership for the department for the past several months; I am confident that she will continue using her skills to move the department into the future."
Ms. Lopez joined the WDO staff in 2017 where she served as Administrative Manager. Prior to her employment with Imperial County, Ms. Lopez was an instructor at San Diego State University, Calexico Campus, where she focused on vocational education.
"I am grateful to be given the opportunity to be able to do something so important for my community," stated Ms. Lopez. "As a native of Imperial County, I understand the needs of our residents and I also know the many great things we have to offer in business development."
Ms. Lopez earned her bachelor's degree in Management and Human Resources from National University and a Master's degree in Public Administration from San Diego State University.
