Notice of Non-Discrimination on the Basis of Disability or Protected Characteristics
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (“ADA”), County of Imperial will not discriminate against qualified individuals with disabilities on the basis of disability in its services, programs or activities. County of Imperial also complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex. County of Imperial does not exclude people or treat them differently because of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex. To the extent required under the Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), the County’s non-discrimination policies apply to the provision of the County’s health programs and activities.

Effective Communication: County of Imperial will generally, upon request, provide free appropriate aids and services, leading to effective communications with us, for qualified persons with disabilities so they can participate equally in the County of Imperial’s programs, services and activities. Services may include auxiliary aids and services, including but not limited to qualified interpreters for individuals with disabilities, documents in Braille, written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, and other formats) and other forms of making information and communication accessible to people who have speech, hearing, or vision impairments. Auxiliary aids and services, as required by law, will be provided free of charge and in a timely manner, when such aids and services are necessary to ensure equal opportunity to participate to individuals with disabilities.
County of Imperial will provide free language assistance services, including translated documents and oral interpretation, free of charge and in a timely manner, when such services are necessary to provide meaningful access to individuals with limited English proficiency.
Modifications to Policies and Procedures: County of Imperial will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities. For example, individuals with service animals are welcomed in County of Imperial’s offices, even where pets are generally prohibited.
Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service or language assistance for effective communication, or a modification of policies or procedures to participate in a program, service, or activity of County of Imperial, should contact the office of Rodolfo Aguayo, ADA Coordinator at (442) 265-1148, TTY (442) 265-1169 as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
The ADA does not require County of Imperial to take any action that would fundamentally alter the nature of its programs or services, or impose an undue financial or administrative burden.
County of Imperial will not place a surcharge on a particular individual with a disability or any group of individuals with disabilities to cover the cost of providing auxiliary aids/services or reasonable modifications of policy, such as retrieving items from locations that are open to the public but are not accessible to persons who use wheelchairs.
If you believe the County of Imperial has failed to provide these services or discriminated in another way on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex, you can file a grievance with the County of Imperial ADA Coordinator.
