Imperial County Free Library Family Place Library Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Time: 4/6/2017 5:30:00 PM
Place: 105 South Lake Avenue, Calipatria, CA
On Tuesday, April 4, and Thursday, April 6, the Imperial County Free Library (ICFL) will host ribbon cutting ceremonies at the Heber and Calipatria library branches to unveil a redesigned space for families with infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The ribbon cuttings will take place at both locations at 5:30 p.m. on their respective days.
ICFL will be joining the Family Place Libraries national network to provide a welcoming community environment with resources that will help families nurture their children's development. The new Family Place offers parent-child workshops that consist of a five week series of fun, play-based activities for toddlers and their parents. The Family Place a venue for families to spend time together and speak one-on-one with specialists on various aspects of child development and literacy.
The two libraries will consist of staff specially trained in child development and family support. Research has proven that the way adults respond to and interact with children from birth-to-five years have dramatic effects on the brain, stimulating a child's social, emotional, and intellectual development. Parents and caregivers are their children's first teachers and the Library is here to help them in that role. The ICFL expansion has been made possible with support from the First 5 Imperial Children and Families First Commission.
