A TV personality, Ms. Wiehl has a new book out shortly, but in the meantime you can listen to Face of Betrayal. Also available is its sequel, The Copper Bracelet.
Mystery readers can check out Sneaky Pie Brown in Cat of the Century, Heather Graham’s Killing Edge, and Elizabeth Peter’s River in the Sky.

Urban fantasy fans have recent releases from two favorite authors: Kim Harrison’s Black Magic Sanction and Jim Butcher’s #12 Changes in the “Dresden Files”. Look shortly for Burned by P.C. New for Young Adults
Check out the wave at your library. Here is some new reading, no matter what your taste.
At Calipatria you can find Kenneth Oppel, who has won a Michael Printz Award for excellence in young adult fiction. His trilogy with Matt Cruse starts in Airborn. The books is considered “swashbuckling adventure” with pirates, but set in an airship. For fantasy readers, this is a new can’t miss series. We also have his Silverwing trilogy, worth looking at as well. Like it eerie? Try Water: Tales of Elemental Spirits or They came from below.Young adults interested in non-fiction may want to look at the water-theme related books, from Fences to Blue Covenant. You can find more detail about these books in the separate article on “Water your mind: Read”, which is our adult summer reading titles. It also includes some relevant fiction, like Clive Cussler’s sunken treasure books.
Manga or graphic novel readers might enjoy D.N. Angel or even The Quest for the Lance , part of the Spy Goddess series. Michael P. Spradlin’s original spy goddess novels are fun reads that you can find at our branches.
Mystery reader? “Something Rotten”, part of a series called the Horatio Wilkes Mystery books, might appeal. I deals with pollution issues. Other books related to water pollution that tie into the summer reading program include Gloria Skurzynski and Alane Ferguson’s “Out of the Deep” and other national park mysteries. Ferguson is the author of a great series of forensic mysteries with a teen character, which I highly recommend. Both a mystery and a fantasy/horror book, The She deals with a tragedy at sea. The author, Carol Plum-Ucci, is another of my favorites, and her book The Body of Christopher Creed, is well worth reading.
Eclipse fans can check out the new vampiric series, such as the most recent Vampire Academy, the latest P.C. Cast and L.J. Banks or the otherworldly “Daughters of the Moon” or “Sisters of Isis” series at Holtville. Ewing, author of those two series, also wrote the highly-recommended book on gangs called Drive-By, on a shooting.
If music is your thing, you might want to venture into the different world of a band that possibly becomes immortal in Beautiful City of the Dead. You can go Backstage at a Music Video in the new “backstage pass” series found at the library
