|DISCUSSION FROM THE SAN DIEGO OFFICE
The southern half of Southern California will see cloud cover while areas such as the Northern Inland Empire will see mostly sunny skies. Cloud cover should diminish tonight from N to S.
The zonal flow (east to west) over the region and a weak semi-cutoff low over Northern Baja will gently be picked up by the southern jet on Friday. Temperatures will increase a few degrees through Friday as heights increase a bit and the cloud cover gradually dissipates.
SUNDAY AND MONDAY
A low originating in the Gulf of Alaska today will become an inside slider as it opens up into a trough and drops into the Great Basin through Sunday. This will bring a slight cool-down for Sunday and Monday. This will also bring a period of gusty onshore winds Sunday and Monday through the mountain passes and desert slopes.
SYNOPSIS FROM THE PHOENIX OFFICE
Weak low pressure will slowly move south of the region through Friday bringing continued cloudy skies and maybe some sprinkles. Drier air this weekend will lead to mostly clear skies while temperatures remain above seasonal normal. Another low-pressure system will likely affect the region early next week resulting in a bit cooler temperatures, but dry conditions should persist.
