On December 2, 2014 the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District Board of Directors fully approved the "Imperial County 2013 SIP for the 2006 24-hr PM2.5 Moderate Nonattainment Area" plan.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

FOR ADOPTION OF

IMPERIAL COUNTY 2013 STATE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

FOR THE 2006 24-HOUR PM2.5 MODERATE NONATTAINMENT AREA

 

The Imperial County Air Pollution Control District Board of Directors will conduct a public hearing on December 2, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, County Administration Center, 940 Main St., El Centro, California to consider the adoption of the “Imperial County 2013 State Implementation Plan for the 2006 24-Hour PM2.5 Moderate Nonattainment Area” (IC 2013 24-hr PM2.5 SIP) a federally required State Implementation Plan (SIP) addressing compliance with the 2006 24-hr PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS).

 

BACKGROUND

On October 17, 2006, US EPA strengthened the primary and secondary 24-hour PM2.5 NAAQS from 65ug/m3 to 35ug/m3.  Using the three most recent calendar years (2006-2008) of air quality monitoring data for PM2.5 US EPA designated Imperial County as partial nonattainment for the 2006 24-hr PM2.5 NAAQS, effective December 14, 2009.  To fulfill Clean Air Act requirements the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District developed its IC 2013 24-hr PM2.5 SIP for Moderate Nonattainment Area. The IC 2013 24-hr PM2.5 SIP will be submitted to EPA as a revision to the California SIP in order to meet the relevant CAA requirements (e.g., sections 171-179B and 189(a) and (e)).

 

Hard copy requests can be made at the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District office, 150 S. 9th St., El Centro, CA.

 

The hearing will be conducted in accordance with the procedures of the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District Board of Directors. If fourteen copies of written comments are received more than five days before the hearing they will be included in the Board Member's packets for this item.  Comments should be addressed to Brad Poiriez, Air Pollution Control Officer, at 150 S. 9th St., El Centro, CA  92243.

 

All interested individuals are encouraged to attend and be heard.  All supporting documentation may be reviewed 10 days prior to the scheduled hearing at the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Office located at 940 Main Street, Suite 209, El Centro, CA 92243.
